Internationalize dates
They seem to be fixed in MM-DD-YYYY format, regardless of the country specified when setting up an account.
4 votesThis is not something we will be adding at this time. As we grow more internationally we may add this in the future, but right now we will not be adding it. Thank you for your feedback.

Do you have a Forwarding option for when kids get older and move off kidsemail? If not could you provide one?
My oldest is involved in Civil Air Patrol and get important communications through email. At some point in the future he is going to move off on his own and have his own email. It would be nice to have a way to forward messages until he can get his email updated everywhere.
3 votesI understand the need for this, but we do not have this option and do not plan on adding it at this time. Usually when users transition off of Kids Email, they will simply e-mail all their contacts with their new details.
I understand how that would be helpful but we will not be making changes at this time.

We like this idea, but this is not something we will be adding at this time.

give option to receive a digest of email activity (instead of ccing every single email)
I suggest the parent be able to request automatic email of periodic digests with selectable interval AND/OR ad hoc digests on the website (or app) that show all activity since the last request for ad hoc digest. Digests would be most useful if the were processed using keyword search to push items with questionable content to the top of the list. Ad hoc digest requests should also be presented in an interface that allows for resorting by different criteria (date, size, sender, etc)
3 votesThis will be declined for now. This is something we will add as a future upgrade we might add – but it’s not something we will be adding right away.

Allow parent to specify "other file types" they wish to allow instead/in addition to the "catch-all" checkbox.
Instead of the catch-all checkbox to allow "all other file types", allow parent to pick/choose via a text box entry (maybe "separated by commas" ?) what file types they are looking to allow that are not listed. For example, I use an app called Spellboard by palasoftware.com and I can email the kids their spelling lists, but it's a proprietary file type with extension. sbq. Currently I cannot do this through their Kmail accounts. I'm sure there are other reasons to enable such a feature. Granular control is very desirable.
3 votesThank you for the suggestion. Right now we do not have any plans to change this, so you will have to just select to allow all attachments. If we decide to change this, we will let you know but for now we will not be making this change.

Enable pop, smtp, and/or imap access.
The ability to use with facebook or an ipad is not the same as enabling pop, smtp, and/or imap access. Please implement these too.
3 votesWe have decided that we will not provide direct access to our mail servers. So you will have to use our services directly through the site or using the apps.
Our apologies,

Allow youth to send a request to parent to add an email address. Have a quick on click accept or deny button from message.
My teens are always asking me to add new addresses, for example, teachers or students they are working on a project with. It would be nice if they could send me a message with the name and email address, and I could just accept or reject the request.
2 votesWe do like this idea, but have decided this is not a change we will be making to Kids Email at this time.

Because all email clients do not recognize different fonts, we have decided this is not an option we will be adding.

Allow better attachment options in app, i.e. short video or audio clip
Tocomail allows kids to add a 10 sec video clip or an audio clip. Would this be possible to add to the app? Kids love independence and would like to be able to do these things from their tablets.
1 voteRight now the only way kids can send video is on the web. We have decided not to add this feature at this time, perhaps in a later release.

This is something we might look at doing in the future but at this time this is not something we plan on doing.

Add POP3 Mail Server Support
It has been tabled previously with many positive votes. Why does my child need ANOTHER device or App to be alerted they have mail. So many existing mail programs out there. What is the backend support issue that kidsemail.org cannot overcome?
1 voteWe appreciate the suggestion of adding POP3 Mail Server support, but at this time this is something we have decided not to implement. If we decide to add it any time in the future, we will let you know.

make it work with iOS mail program
Instead of your own app, why not set up your servers so that we can just add the KMAIL account to the iOS Mail app?
1 voteWe do not allow direct connection to our servers (architecture decision). We provide mobile applications for this purpose.
I’m sorry that this isn’t something we support or plan on adding at this time.

My 7 year old daughter loves your email program but wants you to offer more than that "ugly" monkey when you login.
Allow the "entry" page to be something besides the monkey!
1 voteThis isn’t something we will be changing right now, perhaps in the future. If your child doesn’t like that login page they can login at www.kmail.org
We can discuss this with the Developer and see what he thinks. Kids Email can be used on our app as well, search “Kids Email” in the app store and download on your device. The “ugly” monkey isn’t on the app :)

Add a native Windows 8 app
Now that windows 8 is out it would be nice to have a windows 8 application instead of using the web based version. Something more native to the functionality of windows 8. Touch controls would be nice for windows 8 tablets. My kid's school is requiring a windows 8 tablet and it would be a nice added feature.
1 voteI guess this is something we have not decided to do quite yet. It may be something we will revisit in the future, but right now we will just offer the apps on Android and iOS.

Condense contacts list without photos
If one is not putting in photos for each contact, it would be nice if the list could be condensed without the photo icons so it doesn't take pages and pages to scroll through.

support custom domains
We have our own domain for the grownups - mom@family.com and dad@family.com. We'd like to get the safety of Kids Email for now but at some point the kids will be old enough to not need this service. We don't want them having to switch their email address. With other services like this we've been able to create an account on our domain (kid@family.com) and have it forward all messages to the other service. We tried this with Kids Email and it doesn't work.
The details: we use Google Apps to manage our domain. I tried setting…
1 voteThis is something we have considered in the past. At this time we do not plan on implementing this. I will send the suggestion over to the Developer, and if we decide to implement this I will let you know.
Thanks,
Brittany
